# Introducing CreativeSkeptic
<p class=cs-dateline>23 June 2025</p>
Today marks the launch of CreativeSkeptic — it’s a gratifying milestone on a road that’s included some unexpected fortunate turns.
Earlier this year, I decided to begin publishing my AI strategy research freely and serving as a consultant advising organizations about AI. (I’d just left Forrester Research, where I’d been an analyst and held several research leadership roles.) Soon after that decision — and before I’d published anything or reached out to potential clients — an enterprise AI startup asked me to join its advisory board. It was a great fit for what I’d set out to do.
However, two rapid developments broadened my plans.
First, within weeks, my involvement with the startup expanded beyond just advice. I took the lead on product strategy, design, and marketing, and created key communication assets (videos, decks, a whitepaper, and a website) aimed at potential customers and investors. So instead of the usual startup advisor pattern of a few hours a week of peripheral involvement, it became a full-time role.
Second, a few months later, a global technology consultancy reached out asking me to keynote at their annual customer conference again, as I had done for the previous three years, as a Forrester analyst. Soon after, they asked me to present at an internal leadership offsite also.
So I expanded the scope of my budding solo consultancy. Instead of limiting my services to advice, I decided to build on those two successes and my previous [[About|experience]], and start offering a broader set of [[Services|services]], including speaking at events and creating strategic communication assets.
## Why creative skepticism
I chose the name CreativeSkeptic to reflect two complementary principles that guide my work:
- **Skepticism sorts the wheat from the chaff.** I use skepticism as a method, not as a worldview. It doesn’t mean pessimism, cynicism, or denialism toward technology. It means rejecting unfounded claims and hazy buzzwords — and asking hard questions and evaluating evidence instead.
- **Creativity gives skepticism productivity.** I counterbalance skepticism with creativity, not to decorate but to generate hypotheses under uncertainty, to experiment, build, and iterate. Creativity makes skepticism constructive — leading to stronger insight, communication, and action.
In addition to creativity and skepticism, four other [[Manifesto|principles]] guide my work: interconnection, clarity, polarity, and humanity.
